Shaws Wood Residential Care Home

Prayer Update October 2014

“Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Dear Friends,

What can I say? Firstly apologies for the delay in writing to you all. We have been updating our servers and web pages and the format we used for sending newsletters/prayer updates didn’t quite work.
Nevertheless as you might remember from my last update I asked for prayers with regards to the meetings I was to have with the regulators and council. I thank you for your continued prayerful support in what has been a difficult period of rapid change for the Home. The good news is all our plans for the next two years in terms of environment changes have been completed within the 8 week period we were given. This in itself was nothing short of a miracle. We have replaced all the lighting, we have redecorated all communal areas including a new colour scheme along all corridors. We have created themes in each corridor to help Residents move around the Home with easily identifiable pictures placed along routes to help with locations. We have also completed work in the new garden area. If you look close enough you will see the fish symbol (slightly tweaked for space) is the pathway of the garden. Also, not wanting to lose touch with our core ethos, we have added some beautiful prints with scripture verses along each corridor.

We have also seen a change to our Senior Management. Jackie and Joyce have both left the service to follow Gods plan for them in other directions. We welcome Rosario Conception and Anita Tricker to the Home in their roles as Registered Manager and Head of Operations.

We have also undergone an extensive program of updating our internal processes within the Home. Care plans, hand overs and daily tasks are now more documented and we can better evidence our work for the regulators.
Needless to say this has been a great effort in such a short time span. We thank God for His provision and look to Him for our future plans.

Please do pray for our Senior Staff that they will have the words and evidence at hand to provide to the regulators on their return.

Please also pray for The Lord to bring in those in need of care. For the first time in 4 years we have several rooms available and we ask for prayers for those in need to come to be cared for in the Home.

Please also pray for our staff. Rapid change is not easy for anyone and I have been encouraged as I have seen the hard work done by the team to meet our deadlines.

Please also pray for our Residents. From my own family experience I know how our elderly Residents don’t like change and we have turned their environment upside down in the past three months! This has been unsettling at times but the benefits are clear for all to see.

In Him

Mark
