Shaws Wood Residential Care Home

“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Dear Friends,

Warm Greetings from myself and the team at Shaws Wood. Thank you for your continued interest and prayer support for the Home.

This past quarter has been hectic on all fronts. I have personally spent some time in Medway hospital with an appendicitis, following an operation I am pleased to say I am now fully recovered. As well as numerous administration tasks I have also moved house but am now settled in.

The Home is nearing becoming full again for which we praise God. As I write we have 35 Residents including both respite and long term Residents. Please pray for our new Residents that as they come in they will also settle in quickly and smoothly. Please also pray for our staff as they adjust to the differing needs and personalities of these new Residents.

Staffing plays a key part in the testimony of the Home and so we need your prayers for the right candidates to come forward as we look to add new carers to our weekly rota. Please do encourage anyone from your congregation who might be looking for this type of work to get in touch, we would be keen to hear from them.

Please also pray for Sue Jelfs – our Pastoral care and activities coordinator who has decided to retire. The Lord has prepared a new direction for her which sounds exciting and we pray that Sue’s adjustment in relocating will be smooth. For me personally and from the point of view of the Home, Sue’s departure will be a great loss. Sue has been instrumental in reaching out to the wider church locally through her contacts and we really have seen a great input from them and great relationships built through her. We are looking to appoint someone to replace her and it would be excellent if this was a person who already has contact with the local churches in Medway and was able to maintain these relationships for us.

We believe this work is what the Lord called us to do and we see His hand on it and thank you again for your continued support and prayer for the Residents, their families, the staff and all involved with the work here.

In Him

Mark
